The British Championships are over and what a weekend it was. An incredibly organised and well ran event saw 200 of the best Male & Female Athletes from across Britain throwdown through eight gruelling workouts, to take the crown as fittest in Britain. The 5k run caught a few people off guard, and the unbroken double under rule for sure left a few people frustrated! We are looking forward to giving that workout a go!! Our athletes Charlotte Smith & Holly Roderick competed and did us incredibly proud. Charley remained consistent across the whole weekend with four top ten places and only one outside the top fifty, meaning she was destined to make the final cut and was able to dig deep during the final workout to walk away with an incredible 11th place finish overall!! Charley really showcased her strengths leaving her set for another big year ahead! Holly Roderick showed true grit and determination following a frustrating day one ending in 52nd place. Holly bounced back on day two with a an incredible 10th & 13th place in wods four & five, showing people she was really there to compete! Remaining strong and finishing well for the rest of day two meant she walked away with an awesome 22nd place finish overall. Both our athletes really showed their fitness and how much they enjoy competing! Here is what they both had to say about the weekend:
"I'm still relatively new to competing as an individual, but the British champs was, without doubt, one of my favourite and most memorable experiences in crossfit to date. I found a couple of the WODs to be far from my comfort zone (for example, the 5k run) so to finish the competition in 11th place was a real achievement. It was an honour to compete along-side some of the top female athletes in the UK and I am already excited for next year's British Champs!" - Charlotte Smith @charleysmiff (Instagram)
"I really enjoyed competing at the British Championships and I am happy with where I managed to place overall after a rocky start to the weekend with the 5k run; my aim was to come in the top 50 so just missing out on the final 20 has given me the confidence going back into training and for my CrossFit career" - Holly Roderick @rod16h (Instagram)
Congratulations to every individual who competed and to those who ended up on the podium!! Roll on next year!! #DEFYLIMITATION
